Frequently asked questions about food product examinations

Answers about batch inspection, samples, laboratory work, cost, documents and time frames.

Answers to questions

What does a food commodity expert examine?

The agreed consumer characteristics, commercial condition, value, packaging, labelling, documents and storage and transport conditions. Specialist indicators may require a separate laboratory or multidisciplinary component.

Can product safety be determined from a photograph?

Photographs help document external condition and labelling, but do not replace examination of microbiological, chemical or other specialist indicators. Suitability and safety cannot be confirmed by an image alone.

Can the work be based on documents alone?

For a preliminary assessment, yes. A final study depends on the questions and sufficiency of source materials. If an important indicator requires inspection or testing, documents do not automatically replace it.

Should I send the products straight away?

No. The task, sample quantity, sampling method, packaging and delivery and storage conditions are agreed first. Unsuitable transfer conditions can alter the object's properties and limit the study.

How many samples are needed?

The quantity is determined for the specific product type, batch size, methods and questions. There is no universal quantity for all goods and tasks.

Does one sample show the condition of the whole batch?

Not automatically. The sampling plan, identification, batch homogeneity, methods and scope of conclusions matter. A result for an individual unit may apply only to the object examined.

Do you perform every type of laboratory test?

No. The need for specialist tests, provider, indicators, sample requirements and cost are determined separately. Commodity-examination services do not include every laboratory indicator by default.

Are samples returned after the work?

Preserved objects are returned under the agreed procedure, with regard to their condition and applicable requirements. Destructive methods and tests may consume some samples; this is taken into account before work begins.

Can the value of a spoiled batch be determined?

Feasibility depends on the documents, quantity, condition and assessment purpose. Parts of a batch with different characteristics may be assessed separately. A value calculation is not permission to sell or consume the products.

Can you establish who is at fault for spoilage?

The study may consider confirmed conditions, indicators and causes of changes within specialist knowledge. Legal liability and the amount recoverable are determined under the established procedure.

What if the goods have already been disposed of?

Let us know and provide documents, photographs, records, storage-condition data and remaining materials. The feasibility and limits of the study are assessed separately; tests that were not performed cannot be reconstructed through assumptions.

Can I order a review?

Yes. We need the complete report, appendices, test records, sampling records and available source materials. We check methods, completeness, limits of conclusions, calculations and reasoning.

Do you work with batches in other regions?

The feasibility of a document-based study, inspection or agreed sample transfer is assessed for the specific task before the order is accepted.

How are the price and time frame determined?

By product type, batch size, questions, object condition, volume of materials, inspection and laboratory work. Specific terms are recorded in the Order Invoice before payment.

May someone else pay and receive the result?

Third-party payment is permitted under the Offer and order terms. It gives no right to demand a particular conclusion and does not by itself make the payer the recipient of the result. Authority to receive the result is confirmed separately.

How is the result delivered, and what happens to the files?

On paper and/or electronically, by agreement. Inquiries without a contract and their files are retained for up to 90 days after the last substantive message or conversation; contract materials are retained on the corresponding lawful grounds. An inquiry does not subscribe you to advertising: subscription and opt-out are handled separately.
